Challenge:
A fast growing billion dollar life sciences and pharmaceutical company was no longer able to effectively manage an accounts payable back log. Staff turnover, absenteeism and manually intensive processes were resulting in low productivity. Cycle time within Accounts Payable had reached nearly 120 days. The entire staff, virtually, consisted of new hires or temporary employees, including the recently hired Accounts Payable Manager. Processing was further complicated by a lack of trust among internal customers.
The Bottom Line:
The Johnsson Group was engaged to assist with the selection and implementation of an accounts payable imaging and workflow solution that would link into the client’s ERP system and transform AP processing. Over the next year, a TJG consultant partnered with the client’s finance leadership team providing “hands-on” project management and change management expertise. Measurable results were achieved almost immediately. By engagement wrap-up, the new AP process had been successfully rolled out to all field and headquarter locations and the back log in invoices was showing improvement. By granting internal customers the ability to track invoices in the system, cycle time was reaching 30 days and morale and trust was improving.
